Primarily 7-year-old players
I Aims and Goals
1. For all children to have fun playing baseball.
2. To learn fundamental hitting techniques.
3. To learn to run the bases properly. To know when to run.
4. To learn to play each of the fielding positions.
5. To understand force-outs and putouts.
6. To learn the proper techniques of catching and throwing a ball.
7. To learn how to back-up each other in the infield and outfield.
8. To learn relay throws from the outfield.
9. For the players to learn and perform 1-8 by the end of the season.
It is not about winning. These are primarily 7-year-old players. It is about teaching proper baseball skills to all children. Each child should have a chance to play every position through the course of the season.
II Games
1. No inning shall start after one and a half hours. The game must end after one hour and forty-five minutes, even if you are in the middle of an inning.
2. The coaches of the batting team shall be the umpires and make all final rulings as to outs, foul balls, runners advancing, etc. BE FAIR. You are setting an example.
3. No official score will be kept. Teams can keep their own score and statistics if they so choose.
4. No standings will be kept. There will be no tournament at the end of the season.
III Batting
1. All Little League Rules apply with changes as follows:
2. Each team shall bat their entire lineup every inning. It does not matter if the teams do not have the same number of players. Each player shall bat once per inning.
3. Batters and Runners must wear helmets.
4. The League will provide a batting machine to be used for all games. Coaches will feed the machine for their own team. If the machine is inoperable then the coaches shall pitch to their own team. No kid shall ever pitch in the Farm League.
5. Each player shall receive up to 6 pitches to hit the ball into fair territory. If the last pitch is a foul ball, the batter receives another pitch. There are no called strikes and no strikes for swinging and missing, just a 6 pitch limit.
6. If a batted ball hits the pitching machine, the batter is still at bat, but with a new strike and pitch count.
7. Any ball hit into fair territory is playable. There are no minimum travel requirements for a hit ball; however, there is no intentional bunting.
8. There is NO stealing.
9. The infield-fly rule does not apply.
10. Only one batter may have a bat in his hands. No on deck circle. No swinging in the dugout.
11. Runners may continue to advance until the fielding team attempts to get the ball to the pitcher. The pitcher need not have the ball. Merely throwing the ball to the mound area will end the play. Runners halfway or more to the next base will advance to that base. If a ball goes in the dugout or past the fence line (as extended), play is dead and runners advance one base.
IV Fielding
1. Ten players may play in the field. No coaches are allowed in the field. If you have less than nine players, borrow players from the opposing team to play the outfield.
2. There will be one player at each of the following positions: catcher, pitcher, first base, second base, third base and shortstop. The four remaining players will spread across the outfield, on the grass.
3. The infielders (except the pitcher and catcher) must be positioned on the infield dirt before the pitch. The pitcher must be even or behind the pitching rubber with one foot on the dirt area of the mound and one foot on the grass. They can be positioned on either the first base or third base side of the mound.
4. Each player will play the infield at least once in the first three innings.
5. No player will sit out more than one inning until each player has sat out one inning.
6. Male catchers MUST wear a cup. All catchers must wear complete catcher's equipment.
